With the help of our qualified and experienced trainer Tom, we’re proud to offer a wide range of sessions and courses designed to give both you and your dog the confidence and support you need.

Tom has spent a lifetime around dogs and brings years of hands-on experience through both professional training and managing our busy day care centres. This combination of real-world expertise and deep understanding of canine behaviour allows us to deliver tailored, effective training for dogs of all ages and temperaments.

Meet Tom

Having been a dog lover all my life, my career originally took a different path — through sport, university, and business. But after years of feeling that something was missing, I met Sophie, and together we began our 4 Paws journey.

Dogs have always held a special place in my heart. Their loyalty, enthusiasm, and unconditional love never fail to inspire me. For me, there’s nothing more rewarding than helping dogs and their owners build a stronger, happier relationship.

I believe that the bond between a dog and their owner is the most important part of a dog’s life. That’s why I encourage every owner to see the world through their dog’s eyes - to better understand how they think, feel, and learn. This approach leads to a calmer, more confident, and respected companion.

I’m proud to be a Kennel Club Certified Trainer, combining professional knowledge with 7 years real-world experience. Alongside our training academy, we also run two 4 Paws Doggy Daycares - giving every dog the opportunity to socialise, learn, and thrive in a positive environment.

Step 1

Initial Consultation

Every new customer receives a full assessment of your dogs life. This is to gain the best understanding of both the dogs temperament and their set up and provide a clear path forward to achieve the agreed goal.

Using the information gained from the pre questionnaire, Tom will travel to you, conduct a full assessment of dogs home and external environment, implement training exercises, go on a local routine walk and ultimately provide recommendations, along with feedback and ongoing support.

Puppy Training

The first year of your pup’s life is a vital stage for building healthy habits and positive development. At 4 Paws Academy, we offer one-to-one sessions that focus on essential foundation skills, healthy habits within the home, proper on and off lead walking and socialisation at our 5* licensed day care, where our experienced dogs along with the help of our team guide you and your pup to help strengthen your bond and build confidence.

The Essentials Course

Our Puppy Essentials course covers the following key areas:

Development fundamentals
On- and off-lead training
Setting rules and boundaries
Building confidence around other dogs
Varied environmental learning

If a complete course if not for you then I do offer individual sessions aimed to target one area per session.

These can be useful to help you improve specific areas of your puppy's training should be having difficulties In one specific area

Obedience Classes

A solid foundation in obedience is key to raising a calm, confident, and well-behaved dog. These sessions are designed to strengthen your communication, improve focus and control, and help your dog respond reliably in real-life situations. Training takes place in a structured yet supportive environment where both you and your dog can learn at your own pace.

Loose-lead walking
Reliable recall
Sit, stay, and down commands
Calm greetings and impulse control
Focus and engagement around distractions

If you prefer to focus on one area at a time, we also offer individual obedience sessions.

These targeted sessions are ideal for improving a specific behaviour such as recall, lead manners, or general focus.

Behaviour Correction

When unwanted behaviours start to affect daily life, it’s important to address them calmly, confidently, and with the right guidance. Whether your dog struggles with reactivity, anxiety, overexcitement, resource guarding, or other challenging behaviours, we’ll work together to identify the cause, create a structured plan to rebuild balance, focus, and trust between you and your dog that lasts a lifetime.

The Behaviour Correction Programme

Our Behaviour Correction Programme covers:

Identifying the root cause of unwanted behaviour
Building calmness and focus
Managing reactivity and overexcitement
Confidence-building exercises
Structured routines and clear communication
Restoring harmony at home and on walks
